| Project 1 Data links on the Internet to find data for your statistics projectsThere is a wide variety of data presented at these sites, much of it is easy to use. Some of the data available through these websites is not of an appropriate form or type for statistics project 1. If the data you find is not appropriate for this project, keep on looking –with a little searching, you will find something both appropriate and interesting. The first 8 sites are sites that I recently visited to find examples of bivariate data appropriate for statistics project 1. The remaining 11 sites are sites that have been recommended or used by other teachers or students to find data for various statistics projects. The field listing in the column at the left lets you select what topic you want information about. The area to the right will list that information for all countries. Pick any fields (topics) that you would like to investigate the relationship between. There is no shortage of ideas here! Some examples are: power production, power usage, power imports, power exports, employment rates, poverty rates, literacy rates, birth rates, death rates, life expectancy, infant mortality, migration rates, inflation rates, gross domestic product (total & per capita), military expenditures, imports, exports, HIV statistics, and many more. You will need to select a sample of countries to get the sample size you need, using an appropriate sampling method. By selecting first one "field" and then a second "field" and using the same sample of countries for both fields, you can relate many interesting characteristics of nations worldwide. Area and Population of CountriesUse an appropriate sampling method to select a sample of countries from the list given at this website.
